June 6, 2011 – UGC Beta Farewell Message
As you’re all aware, our inFAMOUS 2 UGC Beta servers will be shut off prior to the official launch of the full game. You may still be able to boot up the beta, but you will NOT be able to use the beta to play, create, or share inFAMOUS 2 UGC Beta missions. However, this makes way for your ability to play, create, and share inFAMOUS 2 UGC missions in the full game—(hold for uproarious applause).
We here at Sucker Punch Productions would like to thank each and every one of the beta testers for contributing to the growth and improvement of inFAMOUS 2 UGC. You have our deepest appreciation and thanks, for being some of the most dedicated, loyal beta testers we’ve had the privilege to work with. The quality of feedback we received was absolutely astounding, and we made some big changes based on beta testers' feedback.
You’ll be able to see these changes the instant you boot up your full version of inFAMOUS 2 and hop into the UGC editor, but your feedback will continue to be valued and actionable. inFAMOUS 2 UGC is constantly evolving, which means we still want to hear your thoughts and feedback. Our dedicated team will continue to compile your feedback, and will continue doing their best to implement it.
During this beta process, testers managed to completely master our UGC editor and build some of the most amazing missions we’ve played (many of them even rivaling the UGC missions Sucker Punch’s own had created). That said, as those of you who have participated in betas before will know, it's not uncommon that you have to start from scratch once the full game ships. Though we did our best to make sure that something of your hard work survives, only a select few missions uploaded will be Featured on day one. If you’re excited to see if yours made the cut, look no further than the Featured filter.
If your mission didn’t make it onto the server for day one, don’t think your hard work is lost. We continue to believe that the greatest testament to your hard work is all the changes you'll see once you do get the full version. Everyone who provided feedback played a hand in crafting inFAMOUS 2 UGC.
All of your voices have been, and continue to be, heard by the people who make decisions here at Sucker Punch. From this day forward, every beta tester who left feedback on one of our official forums can look back and say “I helped them this craft this UGC editor;” and for that we thank and salute you.
The following is a list of improvements made to inFAMOUS 2 UGC, based off your feedback:
Improved Checkpoints; a much simpler Checkpoint logic system has been implemented.
Improved and expanded set of template missions; templates now have descriptions and design challenges.
Published missions show ratings and play count in My Missions list; mission builders no longer need to seek out their mission beacons in the world to check its status.
“Play to Publish” feature; mission builders must now successfully complete their mission before it can be published.
Rate abandoned missions; players now have the option to rate missions they have chosen to abandon.
Several new content packs and new NPCs; a whole host of new characters, enemies, and objects will become available as you progress through the main storyline.
This is all on top of all of the game-wide improvements made in the months since we released the Beta, so there will certainly be a ton of new content to sink your teeth into.
We are pleased to announce that we have started rolling out our inFAMOUS 2 UGC tutorials videos. Be sure to check them out on our official YouTube channel, linked below. Be sure to bookmark inFAMOUS2UGC, because we have plenty more tutorials coming!
Our active community will continue to grow now that everyone has access to inFAMOUS 2 and its UGC editor, so be sure you stop by and visit our forums. In the coming months we’ll have mission building contests (complete with rare prizes), tutorials, tips and tricks, and more. So be sure to jump in on the discussions!
For now, you’ll be able to use our public forums, located at our website linked below; but keep an eye out on the official inFAMOUS website for when our official, permanent UGC forums are fully operational!
Our UGC Website will continue to function, with fixes and improvements based off your feedback. So be sure you continue to link to your missions!
